Accessibility Statement

Back2Africa Imports is committed to making its website usable by as many people as possible, including customers with disabilities.

Conformance status

We are working towards conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. Our storefront partially conforms to that standard: most of the site meets it, and the known exceptions are listed below.

What we have done

  • Text and background colours are tested to meet the WCAG AA contrast minimum of 4.5:1 for body text.
  • Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard, and shows a visible focus outline.
  • A "Skip to content" link is the first item on every page.
  • The cart drawer moves keyboard focus into itself, keeps focus inside while open, closes with the Escape key, and returns focus where you left off.
  • Cart changes are announced to screen readers.
  • Images carry descriptive alternative text, and decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
  • Form fields have visible, programmatically associated labels.
  • Pages use a single main heading and a logical heading order.
  • The site can be zoomed and works at 200% text size and on small screens.
  • Motion and animation are reduced automatically if your device requests reduced motion.

Known limitations

We are aware of the following, and are working to address them:

  • Third-party content. Customer reviews, live chat and loyalty features are supplied by external providers. We do not control their code and cannot guarantee their accessibility.
  • Decorative star graphics. Some gold star icons do not meet the contrast minimum. They are decorative only — the rating is always given as text next to them.
  • Older product descriptions. Some product copy was written years ago and may use headings inconsistently. We are revising it.
  • PDF and video content. Older files may not be tagged or captioned.
